Sacramento UNITY Program

2025 APPLICATIONS CLOSED

About the Program

The program builds bridges among Asian, Latino, Black, and Native communities while cultivating a new generation of leaders prepared for public service. Through this initiative, hosted in partnership with Sacramento Mayor Pro Tem Mai Vang, participants develop the skills, relationships, and civic readiness to strengthen cross-community leadership in the region.

The program equips students with the tools to cultivate confidence, discipline, and essential skills for navigating high school, preparing for graduation, and succeeding in college. Speakers serve as role models, inspiring students to pursue their own success and become community leaders. Success stories shared by these role models inspire students to tap into their own abilities.

Scholarship: All accepted program participants will receive a $150 cash scholarship. Program participants are also eligible to apply for the Lydia Cruz Scholarship.

Target Students: High school juniors or seniors of Asian American, Native Hawaiian, Pacific Islander, Chicano/a, Latino/a, Black/African American, Native American/Indigenous descent.
Student Testimonials

"From participating in the APIs Mobilize Program, the greatest benefit I received was understanding that no matter your ethnic/racial background, everyone has a chance to succeed and make positive changes in the community. I would recommend APIs Mobilize to further one’s knowledge of racial/ethnic studies and also for scholarship benefits."

Layla Harvey, Valley High School, 2022 Sacramento UNITY Leadership Program

“I gained new insights into how people who have struggled like me get to where they are today. My favorite part is meeting with those people and getting to know their stories and advice.”
